Powell Named 2025 Commencement Speaker

Matt Powell is the Managing Director, Portfolio Operations, of KPS Capital Partners. KPS, through its affiliated management entities, is the manager of the KPS Special Situations Funds, a family of private equity funds with approximately $21.4 billion of assets under management, focused on making controlling equity investments in manufacturing and industrial companies across a diverse array of industries, including basic materials, branded consumer, healthcare and luxury products, automotive parts, capital equipment and general manufacturing. 

Prior to joining KPS in 2022, Mr. Powell was the Vice President of Global Aluminum Business Development & Supply Chain at Alvance Group. Prior to Alvance Group, Mr. Powell was the Global Aluminum Development Director at Liberty House Group. Mr. Powell holds a B.S. degree in Biology and Mathematics from University of Rio Grande.

During his tenure at Rio, he was also a student-athlete, earning two All-American Awards. He was inducted into Rio's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.  Matt and his wife Penny of 28 years have two children, Sarah, 25, and Luke, 23.  They reside in Barnesville.
